Completely lo-fi
punk with a heavy grind that takes distortion beyond the realms of sane
levels. The Mentals obviously do not make music for the masses, but
I wouldn't be surprised to see their live shows packed every night.
The energy and power spews from this album. The vocals are pretty good
for a punk band and give the music it's popish Nirvana-like sound. Every
song leaves you with the immense desire to trash your house or run your
car into a tree. The release that is felt through this music is excellent.
This is definitely a live band and I'm sure a band that would provide
excellent entertainment. I wouldn't consider this band for a breakthrough
artist award anytime soon, but for an excellent source of excitement
and energy, The Mentals have my endorsement.
