Gajoob CD Review Sep-30-2000

At the time The Mentals began work on this album, guitarist/vocalist Steve Tobin was involved in a serious car accident which broke the bones in his upper left arm and hand. Needless to say, the studio sessions were put on hold. Rather than lay down, however, The Mentals went to their 4-track recordings and put together this album from those sessions. Tobin says, "I happen to love that raw and powerful non-Hollywood sound." And Oh Well brims with lo-fi garage energy and one-take presence. The sound is grungy with a punk fire and lovers of the sound will really dig this. At some point, judging from this pleasureslab, these boys will be bigger than Bob and you'll be kicking yourself for passing this by. Unless you don't pass it by, of course..
